The Asian Culture Complex The Project Development Initiative has been hosted by The Office for Hub City of Asian Culture in Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop programming for Asian Arts Theatre and to build collaborative relationship with wide range of national and international artists. There were 71 proposals from 13 countries which have been evaluated by panels comprised of 15 distinguished professionals in various artistic disciplines. The 1st and 2nd round of evaluation focused mainly on the proposed project and its suitability with regard to Asian Arts Theatre’s programming, along with long discussion about feasibility of these works and possibility of involving Gwangju community. And among 71 proposals, we have selected ‘Nameless forest’ by Dean Moss (USA), Puppet People Project by Performance Group Tuida (Korea) and ‘mata morposis’ by Solar Eclipse (Korea). ‘Nameless forest’ is a multidisciplinary performance work conceived by director, choreographer and media artist Dean Moss in collaboration with contemporary Korean sculptor, installation artist and poet, Sungmyung Chun. ‘Puppet People Project’ by Performance Group Tuida collaborating with Snuff Puppets which are giant puppet company based in Australia, is an outdoor puppet project that participates Gwangju community.
