The symbol, the main visual representation of Gwangju as Hub City of Asian Culture, is the essential element of the Project Identity Program (PIP).
The most basic of shapes, the circle, embodies the philosophy of Gwangju's "endogenous existence," depicting the City as a "realm of possibilities." The color yellow symbolizes the spirit of democracy, human rights, and peace which Gwangju epitomizes, and also signifies a meaningful beginning of Hub City of Asian Culture.
