With the goal of sharing Gwangju's spirit of democracy, human rights, and peace, the Cultural Exchange Agency oversees, coordinates, and manages programs and operations related to exchanges in the domain of Asian culture. Expected to carry out core functions in Asian cultural exchange, it is made up of The May 18 Memorial Hall, Asian Cultural Exchange Center, and the Business Strategy Center.
The Cultural Promotion Agency will be the "creative powerhouse" of the ACC. With the Cultural Contents Development Center, Cultural Contents Production Center, and Multi-Functional Exhibition Hall under its roof, it is to be the venue for innovative creations and demonstrations in cultural contents.
This would be the nurturing grounds for and hub of the performing arts where Asian artists are free to create and stage their performances. Accommodating as many as 2,000 persons, this theatre consists of the Grand Performance Hall, which can stage 2-3 performances simultaneously if necessary, and the Multi-Functional Auditorium that can present a wide variety of genres in theater, music, and dance.
The Agency of Culture for Children, known as "another small ACC," serves as a forum for a multitude of activities, housing a museum, playhouse, library, and creative studio. With the aim of nurturing the creative leaders for the upcoming age of culture the Agency of Culture for Children, belonging to the ACC, will stimulate the sensitivities of the Digital native generation through Ambient Intelligence, a convergence of technology and multimedia. In addition, the Agency of Culture for Children will feature a children oriented space, as well as develop exhibition content to promote their roles and engagement, as the place where children can visit any time and grow up along with art and culture.
The Asian Culture Information Agency is a unique organization in Asia to generate products from research in Asian culture and further develops the various materials on Asian culture into cultural assets. It is comprised of the Asian Culture Research Institute, Asian Cultural Resource Center, and Asian Culture Academy. The research results derived from the Institute are manufactured into cultural assets at the Resource Center and are thereafter used in the library park or utilized by the ACC facilities and further developed into cultural contents. Such a function represents a competitive edge differentiated from the existing stand-alone research centers and museums found elsewhere.
