The ACC Information Center was established in December of 2005 to undertake public outreach functions and to elicit the community's active participation for smooth execution of the plan to create Hub City of Asian Culture, by far the largest cultural project in the history of Korea. To date, the Center has had over 100,000 visitors from both in and out of the country, including the residents of Gwangju. The role of the Information Center go beyond providing information on moment-to-moment developments of the HCAC Project. The Center serves as the main forum for all Asians to communicate with one another and engage in cultural exchanges. In addition, it runs various cultural programs to encourage public participation and foster appreciation of Asian cultures, while at the same time instill a sense of pride and mission in the hearts of the people of Gwangju in striving to build Hub City of Asian Culture and the ACC
Tremendously popular were programs for children, our future leaders of Hub City of Asian Culture, that aimed to sharpen cultural sensitivities in them and strengthen their ability to truly appreciate the richness of culture.
The ACC Information Center is sure to serve as a key entity in the successful implementation of the HCAC Project. This cultural venue not only provides a wide range of information on the Project, but also functions as a window of communications for the public to express its opinions and offer ideas, so that diverse resources are capitalized upon in order to add greater momentum to the dynamic cultural energies radiating throughout Hub City of Asian Culture.
